Well, I actually think Jakob has a point. A lot of companies would benefit more from publishing well-written articles instead of blogging a bit now and then. As always Jakob makes a provocative statement. If you read the article and actually think about the fact that a lot of companies think that blogging is an easy solution - well, I guess it makes a bit of sense.
It’s not that I think that you should switch off your brain and do what Guru Jakob says. But on the other side: Don’t just switch of your ears either.
One thing, by the way, that really puzzles me: Why does Jakob not have an RSS feed on his alert boxes?
Yup - he has a point. He is not saying “blogging sucks” he is saying “promoting your expertise is different from blogging”. Read the post - and you’ll get the point as well. Among the other points he has is that a lot of writing is not about expertise but about the social aspects of the writing, getting to people or getting people to do stuff. But… that’s something else.
